We started to develop our operational excellence programme now called LINPAC Operating System (LPOS), in our St Helens site in 2004. Since then we have rolled the programme out globally. Modelled on the Suiko approach, we have developed 5 levels of both performance and practices which all teams are still measured against. To ensure sustainability, achieving the next level of LPOS is in everyone’s objectives. We have also developed a comprehensive LPOS toolbox, focused on maximum engagement and built a network of support and governance to really make LPOS become our way of working. This has consistently made a significant year on year impact in all our performance areas from health and safety to conversion costs. LPOS has made us a more professional, responsive and customer focused organisation and now provides a unique competitive advantage.
